The object of the Desert
Dining Club in the UK is to encourage a greater understanding and interest in
desert regions. The Club holds one event a year in an interesting place where members
meet for dinner and hear a short talk given by a member or visitor. |

The Club, formed on 9
October 1981 at the Royal Engineers Headquarters Mess at Chatham, has a
membership of about 40 within the UK and in other countries, comprising engineers, travellers, anthropologists,
archaeologists, surveyors, geographers, geomorphologists, botanists, artists etc.
Anyone with an interest
in deserts is normally welcomed to apply for
membership
